Can AI Have a Heart?

— Why a Technical College Student Chose Research and Aims for the World —

Can AI have a heart?
This single question changed the direction of my life.
This blog is a record of a technical college student who decided to pursue a seemingly impossible dream seriously: creating AI that can understand and empathize with humans.

1. The Question That Started Everything

I was interested in robots and programming as a child, but that interest gradually faded.
By high school, I had no clear dream or goal.

During a career guidance class in my second year of high school, I came across the word “AI.”
When I learned that AI imitates the human brain, a thought struck me:
If we can imitate the brain, can we also imitate the heart?

That question became the starting point of my dream.

2. Why I Chose to Pursue This Question Seriously

It has been almost two years since I decided to pursue the idea of “AI with a heart.”
What started as curiosity turned into a lifelong goal.

Today, AI is deeply integrated into society.
But if AI could truly understand human emotions, it could become more than a tool—it could become a companion.

I believe that only a heart can truly support another heart.
That is why I want to create AI that can empathize with humans and coexist with us.

3. Why I Chose Research as My Path

There are many ways to pursue a dream today—through business, social media, or philosophy.
However, I chose research.

I want to understand AI deeply and grow alongside it.
Many people fear AI because they do not fully understand it.

By researching AI directly, I want to show that AI can be safe, beneficial, and trustworthy.
True coexistence requires mutual understanding between humans and AI.

4. The Reality of Being a Technical College Student

I initially believed that attending a technical college while earning a bachelor’s degree would still allow me to enter graduate school.
However, I later realized how difficult this path is.

The biggest challenge is the lack of research laboratories and academic recommendations.
While graduate school is not impossible, the path is far more demanding.

5. Why I Aim for Transfer and Graduate School Abroad

After extensive research, I decided that transferring to a national university is the best option.
Although transfer admissions are highly competitive, this path offers stronger research environments.

My ultimate goal is to pursue graduate studies abroad.
For now, I focus on what I can do today—studying consistently and preparing step by step.

6. Why I Study AI, Math, and Languages Simultaneously

Most transfer and graduate school exams require mathematics, programming, and English.
In addition, AI research demands constant learning.

My current goals are a TOEFL iBT score of 80+ and passing the highest level of the mathematics proficiency test in Japan.
Even though my current level is close to zero, I am committed to using my time fully.

7. Purpose of This Blog

I know my dream is ambitious and that I am still far from achieving it.
That is why I write this blog—to document my growth and hold myself accountable.

This blog is both a personal commitment and a record for anyone walking a similar path.

Conclusion

I am a first-year technical college student pursuing the dream of creating AI with a heart.
Starting from zero, I am studying AI, mathematics, English, and programming independently.

This blog records that journey.
One day, I hope it will inspire others who dare to pursue their own impossible dreams.
